Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller Dhurandhar has officially become the actor’s highest-grossing film at the Indian box office, surpassing his 2018 period drama Padmaavat in just nine days. According to reports, the Aditya Dhar directorial crossed the Rs 300 crore milestone on its second Saturday, recording its highest single-day collection of Rs 53 crore.
The film’s total India net collection now stands at Rs 306.40 crore, edging past Padmaavat’s lifetime collection of Rs 300.26 crore. Released on December 5, Dhurandhar has also surpassed Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, which earned Rs 240.30 crore, and Dhar’s own 2019 directorial, Uri: The Surgical Strike, which collected Rs 244.14 crore domestically.
Record-Breaking Second Weekend
Dhurandhar’s second Saturday earnings of Rs 53 crore marked a 61% jump from its second Friday collection of Rs 32.50 crore, setting a new record for the highest second Saturday for a Bollywood film. The film maintained strong occupancy throughout the day, with night shows recording 88.04% occupancy according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The spy thriller collected Rs 207.25 crore in its first week before surging in its second weekend. Industry analysts predict the film is on track to collect between Rs 350 crore and Rs 400 crore in its lifetime run.
Industry Response and Sequel Plans
The ensemble cast, featuring Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal alongside Singh, has received widespread praise. Actor Hrithik Roshan lauded the film’s storytelling and performances, writing on Instagram, “I loved the storytelling. It’s cinema,” though he noted he disagreed with its political aspects.
The makers have already announced a sequel titled Dhurandhar: Revenge, scheduled for theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The announcement came through a post-credit scene in the first film, setting up a major box office clash with Yash’s Toxic during the Eid weekend.
