India Women vs Sri Lanka Women Highlights 4thT20: Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s cricket team defeated Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka women’s side by 30 runs in the 4th T20I which is being played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, their decision backfired as Smriti Mandhana (80 off 48 balls) and Shafali Verma (79 off 46 balls) joined an 162-run opening partnership, which is also the highest partnership for Indian women for any wicket in WT20Is. Both of them completed their fifties. Later, Shafali lost her wicket to Nimasha Madushani and Smriti Mandhana was dismissed by Malsha Shehani. However, Richa Ghosh ensured that Women in Blue finished well and played a 40-run unbeaten knock from just 16 balls and helped the hosts post 221/2 in 20 overs.
Hasini Perera and Chamari Athapaththu gave SL-W a quick start in the 222-run chase with their 59-run opening partnership inside the batting powerplay. However, Arundhati Reddy provided the Women in Blue with the breakthrough by dismissing dangerous Hasini Perera for 33 runs. Both captain Athapaththu (52 off 37 balls) and Imesha Dulani (29 off 28 balls) got out after playing slow knocks, leaving SL-W chasing 83 in the final 5 overs. Constant breakthroughs allowed the hosts to restrict the Lanka side on 191/6 and win the match by 30 runs. Vaishnavi Sharma and Arundhati Reddy took two wickets each, and Shree Charani settled with one.
